Jane Gutman, CW'73, is truly all things Penn and all things volunteering so when the opportunity arose to start PennServes, Jane was right there making it happen. Jane has been so instrumental in so many Penn efforts having tackled everything from starting the Southern California Regional Advisory Board to starting Penn's first West Coast office to expanding Penn's California admissions efforts. Jane previously worked as the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Admission. On any given day, you might find Jane planning Penn events - whether that means scoping out Penn Serves' next projects -- to advocating in D.C. for global human rights. Today, Jane serves on the board of the Windward School in Culver City. Jane has been previously recognized with the 1999 Alumni Award of Merit by Penn for her outstanding lifetime achievements and contributions to the University. Her two sons currently are attending Penn.
Leanne Pyott Huebner, W'90, truly enjoys giving back through volunteering. When she's not helping out her local education foundation in Manhattan Beach raise money for her children's schools, you'll find Leanne advocating for public education funding up in Sacramento through PTA. This former Wall Street banker and consultant started a nonprofit with friends back in New York in 1991 called Minds Matter. This academic mentoring program has since grown across the country and now serves hundreds of high potential, low income youth in 11 cities with 1,800 volunteers involved. Leanne sits on several nonprofit boards including Minds Matter National, Manhattan Beach Education Foundation, Manhattan Beach Council of PTAs and Valiente College Prep Charter School. Her latest project is helping start a charter school for economically disadvantaged youth in Southeast LA where she served as Founding Board Chair. Leanne was recently recognized as 2014 Woman of the Year by the California State Legislature for her dedicated community service. Leanne was recently elected to the Trustees' Council of Penn Women and is a member of Penn's Southern California Regional Advisory Board and co-chairs Los Angeles South Penn Interview Program Committee.
Denise Winner, W'83 bleeds red and blue. Community service has been core to Denise for quite a while. In the past, Denise chaired Penn Cares, a multi-city alumni effort involving community service days. Today, Denise runs her own financial engineering and data mining company, Winner Squared, as well as giving back to her community and her son's school. Denise is also current President of the Southern California Regional Advisory Board and sits on the Trustees Council of Penn Women. In her spare time, Denise competes in marathons and ultra-marathons having recently completed a 60 mile event in Israel. Denise is a honoroary lifetime member of the Lupus Foundation and in greatly involved in clean environmental efforts as well. Penn folks even recognize her dedication - expect more news on that in October when Denise will be presented with the 2014 Alumni Award of Merit.
